2016 Annual Report

During the 2016 calendar year, in addition to our normal duties and responsibilities, King George Sheriff’s Office was fortunate enough to participate in a number of worthwhile events, which includes the Special Olympics Torch Run, Meet in the Middle, Fall Festival, National Night Out, Bright Beginnings and Shop with a Sheriff. Sheriff Dempsey is currently serving as Second Vice President of the Virginia Sheriff’s Association and will be serving as state Chair for Special Olympics of Virginia in September.

King George Animal Control continues to host a Spring and a Fall Rabies Clinic in addition to sponsoring the Co-op Program through King George High School. The Sheriff’s Office also hosted a Spring intern, Luke Garrant. Deputy Alison Nowacki received the MADD award for her record number of DUI arrests and a Crisis Intervention award. Deputy Rod Shriver

Personnel

The communications 9-1-1 center had new hires of Melissa Wheeler, Breanna Lewis, Madison Smith, Courtney McCosley, Kelly Simpson and Kathryn Lenox.

Deputies Brittany Clift, Anthony Mims, Charles Catlett, Adam Cole and Chris Snider were hired. Graduating from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy (RRCJA), Law Enforcement Basic Training, Deputy Cole received the Top Overall Achievement and the Charles E Murray award. Deputy Snider receive the Top Skills award.

There have also been some personnel changes during this past year. Rhonda Bland was promoted to Communications Director, and Lisa King promoted to Communications NCIC/VCIN Manager.

Heroin Problem

With the growing heroin problem, King George Sheriff’s Office deputies received training and are equipped to administer Naloxone in an attempt to save lives from an apparent overdose.
