On December 01, 2019 @ 12:23 hrs, Units were dispatched for an Apartment Fire. RE2 and M2 arrived on scene to find a 2 story multifamily apartment building with nothing showing from the exterior. A 360 walk around was completed and found nothing showing from all sides. Upon approaching the apartment door, a strong smell of smoke was evident as well as some smoke coming for the door. TRK28 was able to gain entry by forcible entry and found heavy black smoke conditions present in the apartment that were banked down halfway from the ceiling. Entry was made and a pot was found to be burning on top of the range and the range was turned on. The pot was moved to the sink and was extinguished by water from the sink. Interior crews performed a primary search of the apartment to confirm that no one was home. Power was isolated to the entire apartment and crew checked for any extension. Fire seemed to be confined to the area of origin with some slight damage to the hood fan above the range and smoke staining on the walls of the apartment. The tenant stated that she had not used the stove today but the pot on top of the stove had been filled with "wax". One firefighter sustained an injury during the call. Command terminated and units returned to service.at 13:35 hrs.
