Animal control is a division of the sheriff's office. The division operates a shelter that impounds or harbors seized, stray, homeless, abandoned or unwanted animals. The shelter is operated under the guidelines of the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services at the direction of the state veterinarian, pursuant to § 3.2-6500. Additionally, animal control also has the responsibility to control the spread of rabies within the county.
The clerk of the circuit court is a constitutional office elected to an eight-year term in each county and city in Virginia. The clerk performs varied administrative functions for the judicial branch of the state at the local level, in addition to many other duties outlined in the Code of Virginia.
The Commissioner of the Revenue is a constitutional office, elected to a four-year term in each county and large city in Virginia. Functions include processing personal property, business tangible and assessments of real estate taxation, as well as processing and auditing state income tax returns and estimated state income taxes.
The Commonwealth’s attorney, also known as district attorney in other states, prosecutes crimes committed in King George County, including all felonies and most misdemeanors.

The treasurer is a constitutional office, elected to a four-year term. The office manages intake of personal property, real estate and state income tax payments, as well as water and sewer bill payments and dog license and permit fees. The treasurer also manages the investment of local funds and maintains records of local finances.
