Overview
The George Washington Regional Commission provides support to local governments and planning agencies in Planning District 16, which encompasses the City of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, Caroline County, and King George County. Since Planning District 16 is the fastest-growing one in the Commonwealth, GWRC encourages local governments to plan for the region as a whole, instead of focusing on only one locality. GWRC prioritizes economic development, homeless services support, transportation management planning, affordable housing, and environmental consciousness.
