2. Overview

   Any tourism initiatives that are well-established (more than five years of operations) are not eligible for the grant program unless requesting funds to expand their initiative. 

   Well-established initiatives (six or more years of operations) may submit an existing sponsorship package with this form for consideration. If selected, sponsorship package agreements will be awarded based on allowable funds for the the fiscal year, which are solely reliant on the amount of funds remaining after sponsorship grants are awarded in July. 

   For example, if the sponsorship grant and sponsorship package agreement funds available for the fiscal year is $15,000, and the board of supervisors awards one $8,000 grant and two $3,000 grants, then there would be $2,000 remaining in the fiscal year for staff to use at its discretion to sponsor events that benefit the tourism strategic plan. 

   Upon sponsorship, the county enters an agreement with the tourism initiative selected that the benefits of the tier outlined in the package will be satisfactorily met. Proof that benefits were received is required to be considered for future sponsorship.

   Please note that the remaining funds available for sponsorship package requests may vary year-to-year, and some years there may be no funds available. Funds are reliant on the tourism funds budgeted for the fiscal year, which is approved by the board of supervisors, and the level of grant applications received and approved in July of each fiscal year.

    Thank you for submitting a request for sponsorship of your event or initiative. 

    If packages are submitted after the grant program deadline of April 1 for the given fiscal year, staff has the discretion to review the package and determine whether the sponsorship aligns with the county's tourism strategy. If selected, sponsorship will be awarded based on allowable funds for the remainder of the fiscal year. Upon sponsorship, the county enters an agreement with the tourism initiative selected that the benefits of the tier outlined in the package will be satisfactorily met. Proof that benefits were received is required to be considered for future sponsorship.
